Dance has a steady presence on Málaga's stages, running from the great classical-ballet titles – Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty – staged by touring companies at large venues such as the Palacio de Ferias (FYCMA), to contemporary work by Spanish and international choreographers at smaller houses such as Teatro Cánovas.
Because dance tells its story through movement rather than dialogue, it's one of the easiest art forms to enjoy without speaking Spanish – that's true of almost everything listed on this page, whether it's a 19th-century classical ballet or a piece of experimental contemporary choreography. The handful of exceptions, where a show leans heavily on flamenco singing or spoken narration, are noted on their own listing.
Below are the upcoming dance shows we've translated into English, in chronological order; for flamenco specifically, see our dedicated flamenco guide.
