C. Echegaray, 6, 29015 Málaga

Built in 1932 by architect Manuel Rivera Vera in a historicist, eclectic style, the Teatro Echegaray began life as a cinema and reopened in 2009 as a theatre after a full renovation. With 304 seats, it's Málaga's intimate-format venue, run by the City Council alongside the Teatro Cervantes, with which it shares a programme of chamber theatre, contemporary drama, dance, music and the Málaga Theatre Festival. It sits in the heart of the historic centre, close to Calle Larios and Plaza de la Merced.
