Several dates — Teatro Cervantes, Málaga
Beethoven and Brahms, performed by the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra (OFM) at Teatro Cervantes in Málaga, on 4 and 5 February 2027 at 8pm, part of its 2026–27 subscription season. Conducted by José María Moreno, with a trio of soloists: Kirill Troussov (violin), Benedict Kloeckner (cello) and Alexandra Troussova (piano).
The first half offers a much-loved rarity: Ludwig van Beethoven's Triple Concerto in C major, Op. 56 (1803–04), the only work he wrote for three soloists and orchestra. Violin, cello and piano converse like a chamber trio wrapped in the orchestra's sound, with the cello given special prominence and a brilliant finale in polonaise rhythm.
The second half is devoted to Johannes Brahms's Third Symphony in F major, Op. 90 (1883), the shortest and perhaps the most personal of his four symphonies. It alternates heroic outbursts with moments of great intimacy, and its third movement, the Poco allegretto, is one of the most beautiful and recognisable melodies of the entire Romantic era. Unlike the symphonies of its time, it ends in a whisper, with a luminous calm.
An ideal programme for lovers of the great German repertoire. Tickets from €10 (up to €43) at the Teatro Cervantes box office and through Unientradas.
From Thursday 4 February 2027 to Friday 5 February 2027.
